For the marginal town of San Mateo del Mar, Oaxaca, strongly affected by the earthquakes of September 2017, we designed a rural housing prototype for two families that solved adverse weather and tectonic conditions. The multifunctional prototype is a laminated wooden pole structure lifted off the ground to prevent flooding. Its pentagonal shape of palm roof and wooden walls create different modular spaces. According to vernacular home typology, the kitchen and the toilet remain outside as independent volumes.
