This pro-bono project reinterpreted the rural housing typology for the reconstruction of a home affected by the earthquakes of September 2017 in Ocuilan, Mexico. Our project recovered the patrimony of Reina, a single mother of two children. The gabled roof allowed for an independent upper-loft area and gave double height to the dining room, altogether improving the space quality of the home interior. For the ceilings and stairs, we used recycled wooden poles that not only made the construction affordable but highly efficient. Our design exponentially increased the value of the original property and improved the family’s well-being.
