Casa Estudio is a getaway house nestled within an oak forest located in Peñitas Natural Reserve, Valle de Bravo, Mexico. Inspired by the concept of a ruined amphitheater, the exterior extends into a series of platforms and benches amidst vegetation, offering a flexible space for artistic endeavors and family activities.
The integration of interior and exterior spaces allows the forest to permeate the house with its essence through sound and form, creating a tranquil atmosphere where the boundaries between indoors and outdoors vanish. Flexibility is key, movable furniture enables the space to adapt to various needs and programs. The centerpiece fireplace serves as both a sculptural element and a gathering place, anchoring the design around concentric rings that promote fluid movement and exploration.
Casa Estudio collects and reuses rainwater for irrigation and sanitation, with visible infrastructure such as solar panels, a natural pond and a water tank tower integrated into the landscape.
From the solid stone foundation on the ground floor to the lightweight wooden pavilion above, each space offers a distinct sensory experience, enhanced by a living roof that connects to an elevated garden.
Spanning 1.8 hectares, Casa Estudio invites exploration along winding paths that lead to the house, the lake, and the surrounding bungalows. Elevated wooden walkways weave through the forest, inviting residents to immerse themselves in the natural landscape where this retreat is immersed.
