Our prototype houses the furnaces for solid-waste combustion in 17 Mexican national ports and airports. The unique design, product of our research, experiments with a new kind of folded concrete that is durable, malleable and requires nearly no maintenance. We sought out the most functional form and construction material: a circular plan. This enclosing spatial arrangement efficiently deployed the operator’s program around the incinerating machine. Besides making tasks orderly, it radically transformed the way these facilities used to operate. Although a ready-made, the prototype built in 4 weeks was flexible enough to become adjusted and improved depending on site-specific conditions. The station guarantees a safe, functional, comfortable, modular, iconic and exportable space. The station becomes an inhabitable machine that, in its round arrangement, not only houses an agreeable work-space but creates a meaningful relationship between the operator and his work.
