Plaza Tejalpa is part of the extensive renovation of the Historic Center of Jiutepec. It is an urban initiative intended to enhance the connection between the square, Parroquia de la Asunción de María, and its surrounding roads to consolidate the square as a public, accessible, and community-oriented space.

To give the square its own identity, local volcanic stone was used in its reconstruction. A series of universal access ramps were integrated into the square, connecting it to the street and ensuring safe pedestrian crossings.

The stone platforms were complemented with native vegetation, and lighting fixtures were placed in planters and tree-lined areas to make the space safe and inviting at night. The kiosk was refurbished, and the central square's pavement was designed as a stone carpet to support Jiutepec's celebrations and religious festivities.

Plaza Tejalpa is an urban acupuncture project that promotes greater integration of public life in the historic center of Jiutepec.

The new square contributes to the preservation of identity by providing a more suitable space for sustaining local traditions and customs.
