Vías en vivo

The main functions of the project are to generate connectivity and permeability of the site to the city to generate networks: activities, pedestrian mobility, biological corridors, water, and energy. The new infrastructure is located in strategic points that facilitate its integration with the program already in place. Responds to parks, schools, sports and recreation facilities, as well as the streets with greater mobility of pedestrians and cyclists. “Vías en vivo” consists of different layers that are the result of a continuous process of selective accumulation. The layers that make up the project arising from the re-significance of the railroad:

Territory = integrator LANDSCAPE

The landscape is part of the infrastructure of the railway, the train line also marks a biological flow. Through proper management of rainwater landscape rehydrated and different types of vegetation are established. The selection of vegetal palette for trees, shrubs and herbaceous focuses on three key principles: highlight the value of local species and seasonal succession, reduce the requirement for irrigation water and maintenance of the park, introducing fruit trees that evoke the vocation historical site.

Routes = social and hydraulic infrastructure.

The train tracks are transformed into the element connectivity between the traveling wagon and generating stations. It promotes social and water flows, allows continuity and generates a tour, a walk. It provides pedestrian access drives mobility and avoids conflicts between cyclists and pedestrians.

Stations = GENERATORS living systems

Fixed infrastructure are forming a network of living systems:

Power generators: solar, wind and energy generated by human use.

Water collectors and warehouses for the use of stations and the city.

Connection points: with relevant streets, schools, markets, plazas, transportation, parks.

Social and cultural activators: meeting places, recreation, game, sport

Utilities: bathrooms, wifi, bike stations, collection and waste separation They maintain the landscape and benefit the city.

Allow the creation of different thresholds between outer space and interior variants between open and closed, public and private space.


The car becomes a mobile structure equipped for cultural events that moves and comes to where activity is required.

It connects to the power stations to become the staging of various cultural activities: theater, dance, film, forums, shows, performances, concerts …

It allows flexibility of use and time scales.

Articulates the relationship between the scene and public life in space.

Has fixed equipment and its uses are ephemeral and changing.

As moves becomes a different space framed by different urban settings: walls, milestones, horizons, reflections, borders, boundaries.

It is not only traveling along the 4.6 kms but continues on his way.
