This is a project aimed at creating a city. Its proposes to reactivate 22 buildings connected to the Collective Transportation System Metro or Subway in Mexico City, with the purpose of creating a hyper-network of entertainment, cultural, sports, work, commerce and health centers. The project’s goal is to maximize the public transportation network as a comprehensive multi-services network. The correlation between services route with a transportation route transforms the subway into the core support of urban identity: healthy city, active city, and safe city.
The uses and operations of each one of the 22 subway buildings (located on lines 1,2 and 3 of the subway system). Some are under-used or vacant o operate as warehouses, which equals dead weight. These buildings have the enormous advantage of having free stories and rooftops, which might be restored into multifunctional spaces and green roofs. Also, they all have a façade from a time that grants them an identity and an asset value. Metro-polis suggests an architectural reconstruction inducing a new social construction, a space and a time for people.
